Engines and spirits, speed and style. ENGINE is an organic, artisanal Italian gin that mixes traditional production methods with an innovative aesthetic inspired by a world that revolves around racing, lubricants, fuels, and the myths of motorsports of the 80s and 90s.
A motor passion shared with IUTER, that takes this imagery to Japan, inspired by the biker gangs of the Bōsōzoku subculture – anarchic and aestheticizing, born after World War II and capable of influencing the following decades, starting with manga masterpieces such as Akira. The collaborative limited edition conceived together with ENGINE and designed by guest designer Giorgio di Salvo is a loving tribute to the Bōsōzoku culture.
As they roamed the city streets on their heavily modified motorcycles, the Bōsōzoku gang boys wore workers overalls and clothing decorated with custom symbols, badges, and logos – the same ones they put on their vehicles, and the same ones we find on the garments in the IUTER x ENGINE capsule collection, that shows off embroideries and patches contrasting against a base of deep black.
The IUTER x ENGINE collection is presented by a series of images and videos created by No Text Company and titled Highway Clowns – Fueling the Streets. The visuals narrate the surreal and ironic journey of a clown, who rides around Milan aboard an old “Spiaggina” car to reach, late, a mysterious destination.
The IUTER x ENGINE capsule includes t-shirts, caps, socks and a workwear outfit consisting of a jacket and carpenter pants, both made of 12-ounce stone washed denim. A special edition of the classic half-liter can of ENGINE organic gin, customized with IUTER’s diamond logo, is also present. All is Made in Italy, of course.
