In an era where events that used to span 10 years can now happen in just 6 months, 3 years feels like a lifetime. And yet it was “only” 36 months ago that Thaurus invited us to step out of our comfort zone. In 2016, reinforced by the long experience that has made IUTER so much more than a store and the skills of Lucia Andrea Forni, we curated the interior design for Thaurus Studio. We brought our own taste and history to a place that would soon become a cult destination, creating some of the best music of recent years.
With the advent of the so-called new school, the name Thaurus has become an institution, bringing together both newcomers and Italy's established rap players. IUTER has always followed the evolution of Shablo & Co. with interest, whether shooting a campaign with Sfera and Rkomi or joining Gué Pequeno on stage at the Assago Forum.
A few years after the inauguration of Thaurus Studio – now also open to the public – we decided to reunite the two brains behind the project and the physical space: Shablo, one of the Thaurus founders, and Lucia Forni, the interior designer behind both the IUTER store and this haven of rap located along the canals of Milan.
We also wanted to spread the magic of Thaurus studio beyond the walls of the studio and the confines of your headphones so we have made an extremely limited number of jackets in the same pattern as the studio walls for Thaurus, welcoming them to our ever-growing Loyal Family.
Photographer Denny Mollica immortalised the studio spaces while Lucia and Shablo discussed how to develop their collaboration, perhaps even involving the magical Urubamba, a true symbol of rap’s evolution in Italy.
IUTER’s work for Thaurus Studio was completed in 2016. You know we don’t usually dwell on the past but we wanted to share this special project that saw us working alongside our homey Shablo.
